These past couple of weeks have been annoyingly unproductive as far as getting the store stocked. I've made a few things, but have had issues with migraines disrupting my days. Delays, delays.
Today has been better and I'm going to be catching up on some creating. I'll be finishing up some stuffies, making some glass tile pendants, and some gift tags for the holi-daze. Be sure to check out the gift tags - which will be listed this coming week - they are very unique and so much fun to add to a package! Your gift recipient will love their fun tag. So why not get them excited about what's inside the package by making a statement on the outside of it?
Movie recommendation for the month - Zombieland!!! I don't see many movies in the theater anymore due to the fact that you basically have to take out a loan just to afford the tickets...but I did get to see this one and it was so worth it! In fact, I want to go and see it again! But, I think I'll save money and go to a matinee this time. :)
And one more thought before I have to get back to work...Don't you just love this time of the year? I love the decorations, all the creepy movies on TV, the spooky music. I'm really trying to enjoy every minute of it since it seems to go by way too fast. Next week, me and my family will be heading to Disneyland to enjoy all the Halloween fun. I can't wait to ride the Haunted Mansion Holiday and see the Halloween Screams fireworks show. I've already been on Space Mountain re-themed with the Space Ghost - that was pretty awesome! But, I wouldn't recommend waiting in line for 105 minutes to ride it. Yep, me and the kiddo waited that long. It was agony! We didn't go prepared with things to do in a line like that, so we got a little loopy. O.o Usually we don't bother waiting in lines that long (we are spoiled annual passholders), but the decor is for a limited time only, so we didn't want to miss out. Hopefully when we go next week, we can get back on it...or at least get there in time to get a fastpass before they run out!
Some of my favorite things of the season...the colors, pumpkins, hot apple cider, scary movies (but not too scary!), costumes, decorations, pumpkin foods (breads, pie, etc.), Disneyland's Haunted Mansion Holiday, and Halloween - of course!

Pinfeathers and Golly Fluff!
A little irritated today over the shop sections. I had all these great ideas for calling the sections unique things, but found out that you can only have so many words/characters. Basically, that limits me to calling them things like "glass pendants", etc. Yawn...boring. I had wanted each category to say something interesting like "through the looking glass" for glass pendants and "so it be treasure you seek" for my treasure boxes, and so on. Oh, well. But, the good news is that I make progress everyday in setting things up and am almost ready to list items.
I have so much to do this week that I feel a little overwhelmed this evening as I think about each day and what has to be done. It's time to make a list. Lists are so helpful in getting the chaos out of your head and organized. There are nights I can't get to sleep until I write it all down. I like being busy though. :)

Welcome Foolish Mortals
I didn't really know what I wanted to write for my shop announcement, but then while having some severe Disneyland withdrawals and thinking about how awesome the Haunted Mansion looks right now (with the Halloween decor)...it hit me. Why not borrow a phrase or two from my all time favorite ride - the ride that got me into the spooky side of life in the first place. So there you have it.
A funny story from my childhood - a memory from Disneyland and my venture into all things "dark". I was in the Brownies, you know, that Girl Scout-ish troop. Are they affiliated? I have no idea. I think they are, but whatever...who cares. Anyway, my troop ventured to Disneyland one time and I was without my parent's supervision. I was eight. We had just ridden on the Jungle Cruise and were looking around that little store at the exit. Back then, this little outdoor store sold all sorts of unusual jungle-y thingies...now they sell fruit and expensive water, but I digress. I had always wanted one of those miniature shrunken skulls with the long black hair and now that I was there with no one to say that I could not have it as a souvenir - I bought it!! The chaperones had no idea that my Mom hated skulls and would never let me buy such an "ugly" thing. I was a happy little camper :) I proudly brought my new treasure home and reluctantly showed it to my Mom. Of course, she didn't share my enthusiasm...in fact, she was so disgusted by my purchase that she made me throw it away!! My treasure! My...precious!!! Sigh...and double sigh.
I have recently found out that my favorite childhood color of choice was black. My Mom told me she would take it away and make me pick a different crayon to color with. But, some things just stick with you and I now get to explore my dark whimsical world without someone taking away my black crayons and skulls ;) Sorry Mom! I like what I like :)
The shop is moving along and gets closer to opening everyday. My announcement, shop policies and profile are now in order. Items will be listed soon! Stop by and let me know what you think...

Something Peculiar This Way Comes...
Greetings & Salutions!
A very warm welcome and thank you for stopping by. I have just opened a new store on Etsy, "Peculiarities", and this blog is the story that will follow the shop. I will be announcing new items, specials, sales, giveaways, vendor appearances and whatnot here. There may also be an occasional recipe, how-to, rant...and whatever else pops into my mind (a scary place at times) that I'd like to share...after all, it is entitled Peculiarities, so who knows what you'll find and when.
The first update on my shop is that my new banner and avatar are up and looking rather fantastical, I must say. It was designed by a very talented artist on Etsy, "crazyfunkycool". I couldn't ask for a more perfect design to fit the theme of my shop and give you an inkling of what you might find there. And what will you find there, you ask? Well, like all good things, you'll have to wait just a bit to find out...but not long :) I will keep you updated and please feel free to stop by the shop and take a look at the progress.
